The Great Lakes International Film Festival is proud to announce the live screening dates of films for the 2013 Festival, along with a few of the many changes this year’s event will bring.
This year’s Festival will run live from Thursday September 26th, and continue on Friday the 27th, and Saturday the 28th, at PACA, Erie’s new cultural hub, located at 1505 State Street. Our online event will take place from Thursday September 26th, and carry on through Saturday October 5th.
In addition, for the first time since the Festival’s inception we will be screening more than 100 of the best films the international independent film community has to offer over the course of this year’s event, starring internationally known actors such as Meredith Baxter, John Heard, Mark Metcalf, Danny Trejo, Tony Award winning actor, John Archer Lundgren, and Kate Lynch, along with many more very gifted Actors.
In addition to the films being screened, Songs & Sonnets by Jim Morrison will take the stage for the last time that weekend, along with performances by legendary progressive Alternative musician, Richard Pinhas, the man who France has dubbed the “Godfather of Electronica”, making his first appearance in Erie, and other local musical stars such as Joe Popps and onewayness, and more.
Since it opened on September 12th, Songs & Sonnets by Jim Morrison has enjoyed fantastic crowds along with rave reviews by attendees and theater critics as well.
Songs & Sonnets by Jim Morrison is an original stage play/musical that celebrates not only the music of the Doors but the poetry and passion that powered their music, along with a jubilee of the times that helped to shape our today.
Songs & Sonnets by Jim Morrison features much of the popular Doors music along with many of the most unique and intense poems as created by Jim Morrison. Songs & Sonnets by Jim Morrison offers an inside look through a kaleidoscope of sensations, revealing the Man, the Music, and the Fuel that lit the Fire of the Doors.
Opening this year’s Festival will be a film starring local Erieite Victor Kuehn in the multi-loaded film Made in Cleveland on Thursday September 26th at 6pm.
This year’s live event will also be offering a special feature presentation of local musical celebrity and filmmaker Tom Weber’s film Troubadour Blues at 9:30pm, immediately following the Songs & Sonnets by Jim Morrison performance on Friday, September 27th.
As the feature presentation for Saturday September 28th, the Great Lakes International Film Festival will be hosting a World Premier event of “The Insomniac”, Monty Miranda’s gripping drama that stars film legend Danny Trejo, along with other film luminaries.
In addition to the plethora of art, Theatre, Poetry, Music, and entertainment, this year’s Festival most importantly will be screening the most intense, captivating, and star-studded independent films in Erie.
In short, this year’s Great Lakes International Film Festival is by far the biggest and the best, and certainly the most artistically diversified in the history of the event.
